Acrylates are used as monomers in the production of copolymers for a variety of surface coatings. They are widely used in water-based paints and coatings where they provide good water resistance, low temperature flexibility, excellent weathering, and sunlight resistance. Monomers are also used in specialty coatings for leather finishing, paper coatings, sealants, and inks.
